About the River

Europe's last wild river: Vjosa National Park

The Vjosa is one of the last large completely free-flowing rivers in Europe, untouched by dams for its entire 270 km course from the Pindus Mountains to the Adriatic Sea. Since March 2023 it is officially protected as Vjosa National Park.

Untouched Wilderness

Dramatic limestone canyons, crystal-clear turquoise water, and lush riverbanks that have never been dammed or modified. Pure, raw nature.

Rich Wildlife

The Vjosa supports over 200 bird species, rare freshwater fish, and diverse mammals. Every bend in the river reveals something new.

Cultural Heritage

Ancient settlements, Ottoman bridges, and traditional Albanian villages line the banks, where history and adventure meet.

We came as a family with two kids (ages 6 and 9) and it was absolutely perfect. The guides were patient and fun, the scenery was breathtaking, and the kids still talk about it months later.
